I feel like when Peeta saw Foxface dead, he wasn’t able to forgive himself for it. It wasn’t really his fault, but because of his personality and the way he was raised, he always blamed himself for everything bad that happened. I know he said that when the time came, he would kill someone just like anyone else would, but I don’t think Peeta truly fathomed the idea of actually killing someone. He never really wanted to, he might have even protected Foxface if given the situation. We don’t know much about Peeta’s nightmares, but I have a feeling Foxface was in them a lot because of this.
